The Model BBF is a bronze basket strainer can be used in applications for steam, water, oil or gas where protection from foreign matter in a pipeline is required. The BBF1 is 150# class, and the BBF2 is 300# class.
They are constructed from cast bronze castings that have drilled raisied face flanges that are in accordance with ASME B16.5. Perforated 304 stainless steel screens are welded along the seam for maximum strength. Other screen materials, including Monel, are also available. If the media is not specified, screens for water will be supplied. All strainers are supplied with plugged NPT threaded drain connections. Options include epoxy coating and galvanizing, special flange drilling, and the addition of magnets.
The bronze bodies are used for marine (sea water) service, or other systems where bronze is needed for corrosion protection.
Non-Shock Working Pressure for the 150# class for steam is 150psi at 400F, and 225psi at 150F for water, oil, and gas (WOG). The 300# class for steam is rated for 300psi at 400F, and 500psi at 150F for water, oil, and gas (WOG).
Cleaning of the strainer is accomplished by removing the cover and pulling out the basket, and a bolted top cover flange is provided for ease in basket removal. The high pressure/temperature gasket between the body and cover is spiral wound 304 stainless steel. The BBF strainers have carbon steel hex head cap screws and come with a tapped and plugged NPT drain connnection.
